Hello all, I hope you guys can help me out as it's tough to find good info elsewhere. On one of my sites we are about to launch a blogging platform for our users. I need some help writing up a user agreement that'll cover our asses if the user happens to post something illegal or against the user agreement. The site is US based. We won't allow any porn, spam, anything illegal, highly offensive or racist etc. We want the right to delete posts that break this agreement. I also want to state that we do not own the content but express the right to use or quote the blogs within our own new, site posts. Also it needs to be stated that moderators have the right to review posts even if they are set to private. I'd like to avoid as much legal talk as possible but still cover our asses. Maybe someone could provide a good example and I could modify it to suit my needs. Another thing, should I be worried about the age of our users? We will have a good amount of under 18 users. Should we not allow blogs by them or force the blogs to be private so only friends can see them? Regards, Matt
You cannot cover your asses - hence why forums are so heavily moderated these days. Anything saying that the user is 100% responsible is simply to scare individuals into not breaking the rules but if they do then both the user and the site is responsible. If you take it down as soon as you become aware etc is actually what you need to do to cover your ass rather than T&Cs
