You should be happy that 'lot' of pages are PR4.
And instead of redirecting that PR why you don't try to get backlinks to your main page?
& if you are sure that these are crap pages which are PR4 then also remember that Google PR is not always shown correctly by Google.
It may drop in next updates.

I have the same issue. PR3 main page and lots of PR5 inner. More backlinks point to my index...so that can't be the problem.

But are the visitors going mostly to the inner or main page ? shows how (little) important PR is.

So why do you care about the PR when you see that it does not bring you visitors ?

    2 choices.

1> rearrange your content so that your higher PR pages have valuable information so the juice will pass on to your SERPs. Sell you products on the inner pages.

2> Look closely at your linking structure. Something simple like not linking back to your homepage (or doing so with nofollow) could cause the PR to bleed in this fashion. I don't know for certain but if you had 3 links for inner pages and only 1 to home on each page would cause the PR to bleed 1/3 the amount.

Link to your main page from your PR 4 pages?

Check yahoo site explorer, see if someone blogged about the pages or something, and raised its pr.
