The Alexa rankings can give you a very rough estimation (for many sites) on how much traffic a site gets. But you have to remember it's only based on those users who have gone through the trouble of installing the Alexa toolbar on their computer. So you have to think who might do that and what sites do they look at. People who set up websites and have an interest in website information, perhaps?
yes, alexa stats are just useless ..... no one should determine a site from Alexa ranking. here is a story of my site - http://www.epiki.com/alexa-site-info-is-useless-and-incorrect Alexa showing less than 6% visitors of my site came from search engine where as Google Analystics and others saying it's around 60-66%. just think.
thanks. actually I was little confused about alexa after comparing my site with other similar services like Google Analystics and ShinyStat which was far farrrrr away from Alexa's stat. So, I decided to put and article and let people know abt the so called Alexa.
I noticed that if you download alexa toolbar and then visit alxa, then the output is totally differ, They give more detail result.
