Useing company logos on website, other than mine.

Is it forbidden to use a company logo, like COCA COLA logo on website directory? Do i need to ask permission from each company or is it possible to use a logo without permission?

You need permission. The question is how likely is it that the logo owner will see you using it? Some larger companies are very protective over their brand.

 

If it's being used in commerce, you'll definitely need their permission.

if you trading under it, it may be different if not a simple trademark statment to the owner and link back to site should be sufficiant

 

I'm not trading anything, its just normal directory listing with link back to coca cola company. It's a quality no spam site, so i tought they prolly have nothing against it.

If i put in their logo and they sue for it, how much could i have to pay in worst case?

 

I'm not sure how that works for a directory. In the USA there is such a thing as "fair use" of trademarks, brand names, etc. Things like comparative advertising are allowed as fair use.
