Use of surplus domains names

While I was in the process of launching a website, I have registered 5 domain names, putting various combinations of words.

Once the one name is selected, all other names are remaining unused. The names are registered for two years. My hosting plan also allows a few more names to be hosted without a charge.

Considering this, I plan to design small size websites on all these names, which I can do myself. These sites will have all product info etc., but when a buyer clicks on “Buy Now” link, it will take him to the main website’s buy now page.

I can then register these sites on free directories and search engines.
In this way I can spread my net without any expenses.

Do you think this is the best way to utilize the surplus domain names?
Or you have any improvements to suggest?

    Can anybody advice me please?

Test them first if they get type ins. Do a cost benefit analsysis comparing your actual and opportunity costs implementing your idea VERSUS just parking the domains at services like SEDO and getting PPC income passively.

I agree with Kgrad, that would be your best bet.

If you want to monetize these domains, you can make them as parked pages (but you have to have quite a few traffic coming to the domain itself already)

You can adopt either of these options - sell them off at Sedo or use them to redirect traffic (permant) to your main site. The disadvantage of Sedo sale is, your buyer may compete against your site since he will choose products based on keywords in the URL.
