We use domain name as a keyword for our campaign. could others use our domain name for his/her campaign??? eg. abc.com---this our domain name If we put abc.com as a keyword ("abc.com") it shows result others...means they use my domain name for his/her campaign...Is it possible??? Any help would be greatly appreciated
yes it is possible unless you have trademark on this domain. ( there is a chance that the quality score will be low and the cpc high! )
Not true, even if the domain contains a trademark, you can still bid on the keyword. You just cannot include it in your ad.
But you can be blocked from bidding on Trademarked terms, though... I wasn't able to bid on 'Blackberry' on one of my campaigns, even though the company in question sold them.
What did the ad diagnostics tool say about it? If you do this search: http://www.google.com/search?q=blackberry&gl=US&pws=0 You can see there are quite a few bidding on the term but clearly cannot use the term in their ads.
It wouldn't allow me to have the word in my keyword list - I couldn't continue to complete the setup without removing it. I spoke to Google, and they said that we needed Blackberry's permission to bid on the term. Blackberry declined, as they had some kind of agreement with the big retailers (never did get the whole story on that)... If you do the search in the UK, you only get the big retailers and networks, Blackberry themselves and a company I've never heard of (don't know how they did it).
In the UK, bidding on trademarked keywords is not allowed. However, it is allowed in the US and Canada.
I did not know that. You learn something new every day. We only have one client in the UK and they most certainly have permission to bid on their own TMs. Thanks TVMATT. Custartmite: Sorry for the confusion.
??? Why would a company put that on its website? I've never seen that information on any website. Can you give an example?
Well, no it's not, because if someone types in your company name, their ad pops up, sending people to their site, not yours.
Trademarks are not protected by default - trademarks are only protected after the proper paperwork is filled out by the trademark owner and sent to Google.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. You like a publisher can put restriction on advertising your domain like keyword.Lets say you are reunion.com (popular dating site, just example). You ,like the owner of this domain, are joining Azoogle marketplace or similar, where advertisers and publishers are meeting.Like publisher, you can put rules for advertisers not to bid on your domain like keyword. These are some of the rules from reunion.com: The following rules must be followed. Failure to comply can result in nonpayment: 1. Reunion.com is a trademarked term and cannot be bid on. 2. You can bid on keywords that contain the word reunion, but not reunion.com. etc.
Yea, Google has different rules based on the country. US & Canada are different from all the rest I believe.
