We all know that crawlers can only read text, but how does your site appear to a crawler?

Well, you can use Lynx, a text-based and free browser developed in early 1990’s and find out exactly how your page is presented to a crawler. Below are the easy 3 steps to test your site.

    1. Download lynx.zip from http://pervalidus.50webs.org/cygwin/lynx/

    2. Unzip the file using your favorite program.

    3. Inside the unzipped folder, open lynx.exe (no installation necessary)

Now you have the Lynx browser. Follow the options at the bottom. For example, to visit a URl, just press g and you will be taken to the site. Watch for any errors on your site, if Lynx see an error, a crawler will see it as well.

Remember, there is no mouse involved!
