@stevejeff it works perfectly. you just have to wait 3 seconds for the page to load. @ted1986 this is so that when you want to give a url like http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1305093 you can simply make it short to http://www.shortener.net/?dp
Yeah ofcourse http://www.shortener.net works fine, but there are some old & famous URL shorteners which are much easier to use for example http://www.tinyurl.com I have shortened the URL of this page to http://tinyurl.com/ckqeb2 using www.tinyurl.com, this one also shows a preview which I like. And not only this there are many URL shorteners available online. Paul
Why wouldn't I want to use a really short domain-name one like is.gd, u.nu, or tr.im? It seems like the whole point is to have as short a URL as possible at the end of the day; shortener.net is quite a mouthful.
Maybe you should use a domain that doesn't look like a shortener? A lot of the appeal of these websites is to shorten a domain, but many also use them to mask their own domain from the person clicking the link in the beginning. If you could brand a website name like groovystuff.com or something I think you could tap the market of those looking to hide the fact that the URL is shortened and make it look like an original URL.
