Use Established Hyphenated Domain or New Non Hyphenated Version?

My established domain is coolest-gadgets.com, it has been going for 18+ months and does get some healthy traffic from Google.

With the domain being hyphenated it has become a real pain with word of mouth or non link based advertising (in hindsight I choose wrong). I've just taken the opportunity to purchase (ouch) the non hyphenated version, coolestgadgets.com.

As the hyphenated version is established, has good Technorati and search engine rankings I've chosen to keep using it and 301 redirect the new domain. I'll also be setting up corresponding email accounts on the new domain.

From an SEO stand point is this the best way to use both domains or am I missing a trick here, thanks?

You're doing the right thing by redirecting from your new domain to your established one. Keep working on building links to your old domain, and keep your new one to capture traffic from offline sources. Your new domain will also stop someone else from stealing your brandname.

    nice site.
I think you shouls only really use the unestablished site to redirect so people who forget the hyphen still find your site... but i think you should still concentrate on the hyphenated version.

Also, can you tell me what techniques you used to get lots of vistors and a nice PR?

Thanks Cryogenius for confirming what I was thinking

We've been going for 18+ months and post 5+ original articles a day. As our content is unique and hopefully interesting we get a lot of organic links which brings us traffic, improved SERPs and as a side an okay PR (though traffic and SERPS are infinitely more important to us than PR).
