I've recently discovered the power of using Adsense search on trash sites. It's not rocket science, but I never thought of it myself before and it actually did double my income from that site. I'm sure many of you guys out there didn't even try it. And some did, but with bad results. The concept of this is to make a new site with a lot of content but really bad navigated so people won't find it through your menus and then go search for the things they are looking for. Don't forget to add a sitemap containing links to all your content so Google still finds it. 1. Take some site that you don't really care much about and make the navigation horrible. Let the visitor find it impossible to navigate your site. They won't find what they are looking for and will now desperately start to look for a search box. Adsense search do not provide the best results in the world but they will most likely find something related and if you're lucky ads will be related too. Yes, people might get upset, but do you care? As I said, it shouldn't be a site you did dedicate too much work to. 2. Start creating the search block and make it blend in to your site as best as you possible can. This is very important if you want people to click the ads - if they recognize it's ads they will probably not click so what you gotta do is make them believe it is search results that _your_ site is providing. I've used watermarked boxes so far, not sure if the normal ones are that great. 3. Locate the search box in top-right/left of your site if you want the best results. Do not locate it in the central parts - simply because people ain't looking there for a search box. 4. Back to 2. Try making that search result page blending in even more. I'll put it this way: the more you blend it in the more money you'll get out of it. Aight, let me know if this worked for you.
I totally agree with you. I put a search box blended nicely and the revenue has been rising. Nothing crazy but its serving a purpose!
Adsense search accounts for about 10% of my adsense earnings and personally i don't find it very effective. I think that there is already enough junk on the internet without creating even more junk sites. Why would i want to make a site so horrible to use? Personally my business ethics are about creating valuable information not trash, but hey each to their own.
You have a point but business is business and I don't like to be thinking too ethical when it comes to it.
It's much easier to promote a well built site than a trash site. There is much more earning potential from a well built site as well. $.02
creative idea! make people confused about our 'trash site' navigation so they use our Google Search menu. but i don't think this is an effective idea, it wastes time to make lot of content for each 'trash site' like you have just explained to us. anyway, thx for sharing your creative idea bro!
this is uber cool i know.I also had one more idea - what about a notification to the readers in our blog that states this : "Did not find what you are looking for?Our search has EVERY answer to your query..search here" Would this increase instances of people searching for something more and ultimately clicking on ads.I guess they would but am not sure if that's ok with adsense. So never tried it.But if any of you feel like trying it,let us know about the results pls.I think placing such a notice and search form would be best at the end of the posts - that is when they find that they have not really got the answer. thanks OP for sharing your results
I dont think you will earn anything if the kind of readers you get are of my kind. if I cant find something I want, I go back to Google. i will get better fine tuned results. besides if you have crap navigation that means your SEO is affected. So mostly people will come from direct traffic only. those will never bother to have another look at your site
yes, adsense for serach is a very good idea, i have been using it in my site for some times now although i am not making so much from it but it is something and it is better than nothing at all.
More Pageviews=More Money Why would you want to chase away your visitors? Adsense for search pays peanuts comparatively . Most visitors will anyway press the back button when they see a disorganized site. And you have the risk of getting banned from adsense
Although the reasoning of using Google search might differ between us all, I think it doesn't hurt. Most people who visit your site will never come back anyway. You might as well make a few pennies from them.
im never going to build a website revenue system around such a concept, im sure you can find other ways to generate revenue without making people desperate.
We'll see about that, sites that are too complicated can be a recipe for disaster too, never forget that. A site must be easily navigatable between content or else you'll never have revisits. Great tactic but greater demise in the long run.
Some sites are so bad that people won't come back anyway, and then again why not earn something off their asses?
