Use a wordpress theme, or design from scratch?

  1. Use a wordpress theme and build the site around that theme

  2. Manually edit my blog to look and feel like the rest of my site.

I am building a site from scratch, and the wordpress blog will be one of ten or more pages, but not the main page. I need the blog to fit the look of the other pages and I was wondering, which of the following do you recommend:

    1. Use a wordpress theme and build the site around that theme
    2. Manually edit my blog to look and feel like the rest of my site.

I think both options are good:

    1. You can get a nice premium theme on e.g. themeforest.net and build your whole site with it.
    2. You can hire someone to design your blog WP theme to look like the rest of your site.

If you find a theme you like I'd say go for it and rip out the header/footer to use on your whole site. If you don't find something and you prefer your own design then what I'd do is setup WP at /blog and use a basic free theme or just twentyten and apply your own header/footer to it. This option is better if you want your own unique design anyway.

There are plenty of themes out there that have the look and feel of a static website with very creative home page configurations, and still have full blog capabilities. I would find one that I like and use it. You don't have to do it the way that you are describing anymore.
You can use one design for everything.

I've modified twentyten with a different background and some changes to CSS to fit my needs.
