I used to buy DVDs from China, sell them in the UK and I live in America. I did it all through paypal. I converted alot of currency between those various transactions just to get my money back in dollars. I never had a problem. Then I found out the DVDs were copies and I stopped that junk! I wouldnt be afraid of converting the currency, though.
We have a lot of money stuck in dollars as at the moment it just isnt worth our while converting it to GBP
Im in the same situation mate, Ive got a contract where I earn a five figure DOLLAR sum per month which runs until July.... so Ive put a LOT of thought into this. I think the dollar IS going to sink further, and probably wont return for 12-18 months, but I have made provisions to keep most of the dollars Im receiving in a high interest citibank account for 2 years, hopefully by that point it will have recovered somewhat, but it is an expensive gamble. It boils down to whether you might need to break into the dollar savings within a year or two, as for me, Im going to try and ride it out.
