I was just sending some money in paypal and noticed I was getting a good rate compared with GDP. So I ran a test at xe.com Your thoughts? Good or bad?
The USD is a joke these days. Which is obviously great if you're buying goods from the USA, but it royally sucks if you're being paid in USD. I remember the glory days when we (in Australia) were getting nearly 2 dollars for every 1 USD - I could afford hookers and booze every night. AUD vs USD
Its true. I am from the Philippines and I noticed that the value of the U.S. dollar is getting low. I think it has something to do with economy conditions in the U.S.
Yeap it is fantastic when you are earning in AUD and paying in USD, the purchasing power increased very dramatically over the year.
Sarcastic but I wonder when AUD will achieve parity with USD, with the current situation, it seemed possible.
I really hope the AUD sinks - or at least the USA gets back on its feet. I was earning twice as much a few years ago, purely because the AUD was so low compared to the USD. It was a joy taking my USD cheques to the bank, but now it's just depressing.
I think that it will get more depressing at least for the foreseeable future, USA rates are coming down, some estimated to be 75 basis points next week, it will trigger further drop in the USD.
Watch the Yen. If it drops below $100 watch for an unraveling of the Yen carry trade effectively kicking the USD in the balls.
Not actually slow, for a currency, it is a bit too rapid. Currency should be more or less stable, the fluctuations are abnormal.
Wait until they cut interest rates again the dollar will go down even more. The people in the white house think a weak dollar helps US business but it never makes up for the trade deficite and only raises inflation.
