Hi DP members. I recently brought a 32 gb USB with the intention of transferring my music to it. I transferred approx 20 folders over, each contained a cd and data. Once transferred, I checked the folders before removing them off my hard drive, about 6 gb worth. All were there with files intact. I deleted the music folder I had on the deck top. When I put the USB back in only a third of the folders retained their data. I have since downloaded music directly onto the USB, confirmed it was there before removing it, removed the USB, put it back in and the folder shows empty. When I look at the J: drive properties it shows I have 6.35gb on the drive, when I drill down to the music folder properties it shows I have 1.96gb there. I have no other data on the on the USB. When I try to delete a folder that states it’s empty it tells me “cannot remove folder: The directory is not empty. I am running XP pro 2002, and have tried both, just removing the USB after use and using the safe to remove hardware device. Have tried google but I must not be asking the right question as I get bits of everything but not my issue. Help is needed. Dills :-?
let me confirm whether you tried to access the data through Command Prompt, As i tried previously for a simliar issue, i am unable to get my data in USB through windows, so i just used DOS and copied content to windows and i have used the data.. let me know if it works.. PS; do you need your music files back or just need to make ur usb work fine..
Can u check that the USB is original or a duplicate one. I have a duplicate 32 GB USB, it also has same problem as u are facing....return it to the vendor if you can..
