Usage of meta tag name=robots

    Has anybody used the meta tag name=robots which has the content attribute as "noodp,noydir"? Is that necessary to use such tags. Pls somebody give me the significance of such a tag.

    I imagine it says NO to the Open Directory Project and Yahoo! Directory, but I've never seen it used before.

    That's exactly what it does, and for the most part they're not needed (especially considering how ODP - the Open Directory Project - is about as relevant as a box of rocks).
