USA to include Canada and Mexico?

Why, do I have to read a lot to understand it?

I'm not sure, but, USA is Rich, Mexico is poor, so probably you won't like a Union on the lines of Soviet Union... errr.. European Union.

Why do most Americans think an American Union is a bad idea?

A Union is not a Super-Federation. It is just an economic & military alliance IMO.

I wonder if the dollar would be effected in much the same way as the Euro. I'd be concerned about jobs, like what has happened in the EU.

 

Globalization is a good and bad issue in this world. In this case, it's bad.

 

Would the richer countries lose out to the benefit of the poorer countries? I think of the three countries, Mexico would have the most to benefit. Maybe in the long run, their prosperity would mean our prosperity too.

 

Mexico is trying to play it both ways. What's holding Mexico back is corruption.

 

My concern is how you harmonize the legal and governmental systems. If the NAU passes legislation, that say, Americans are opposed to, are they required to follow it?

Bear in mind, Canada and the US have very different fundamental rights, taxation systems, positions on gun ownership, education, immigration etc.

NAFTA already creates an economic Union, and NATO creates the semblance of a military Union.

As an American, I don't want my dollars linked to inflationary policy in Canada or Mexico.

Above all, I favor small government and independence. I still believe that people who work hard and smart, under a strong set of laws, can progress.

 

I think you said that wrong Mexico to include US and Canada is more like it. They dictate policies to George Waba Bush not the other way around.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if its the opposite and over the next 10 years some states like Texas secede.

Lincoln crushed the rights of states to secede during the civil war. It cost 600,000 American lives. I doubt that a state could secede today, legislatively and peacefully. Unfortunately. Of course, if the country goes bankrupt like the USSR, all bets are off.

I doubt that anyone would secede. Although, if any state could do it, I would say Texas would have the better chance of fending for itself. They are on their own power grid and have plenty of resources available.

If US social security liabilities, medicare liabilities etc were accounted for in the same way that listed corporations are, then technically the US would already be bankrupt.

The liquidation sale is already happening. The Chinese and the Arabs are buying up large amounts of commercial properties and banks etc.

 

Regardless of how Americans or Mexicans voted, the overwhelming majority of Canadians would reject the idea.
We've worked hard as a people to become the nation that we are and we are very different from Americans or Mexicans.
Our philosophies, economics, world view are all very different and we wouldn't have it any other way.

As much as any other nation on Earth, yes.
We're all interdependant, economically, to a degree.
