It's been over thirty years since men went to the moon. What has NASA done since? http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/space/2007-03-15-china-moon_N.htm
Not much. NASA has become just another government agency. It really needs to be privatized. Shutting down for 2 years everytime a shuttle blows up isn't going to get us anywhere.
lets see, hmm picking up bits of scrap from around the world, loosing mars rovers, fixing hubble, does anything work at NASA?
you mean things like, 160 million bux on the MAP Probe? to take a snapshot of the background microwaves left over from the big bang. when some guy built one on earth, from a dustbin lid, some kitchen sink waste pipe, and a few other bits found in the recycle centre, all for under 1/2 a mill
hubble is almost beyond repair now. I'm not sure if they are even going to fix it this time. rovers on mars are "nice" but they don't do much. Even NASA understands that its ability beyond to send small, unsophisticated robots anywhere is pretty limited. NASA has a typical governmental problem - casualty aversion. They are afraid to have people get killed trying to go places. Astronauts know the risk and sign up anyways. Requiring a hearing a 2 year delay when something goes wrong doesn't realy serve NASA. Look at what was done when someone offered a million dollars for a plane that could go into space and do it again in a week or so. Lots of applicants. Entrepreneurialship takes over. Lose a little money now trying to make a lot in the future. Open it up.
