Bush and his cronies allegedly attack Iraq to disarm Sadman Hussain and his ferocious Evolutionary Guards D), but recently declassified documents state that the US Administration, infact, with full knowledge that Iraq was indeed using Chemical & Biological weapons against Iran, blocked UN resolutions against Iraq. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ENR12lhTmYI This is unfair. Why are these facts omitted in the US Media? Atleast the American people will know the truth behind the "War on Terror' -----------------------------------
Wow, good find. It's important to dig up stuff like this and post it clearly on the 'net, so that it can become part of the permanent record, and not buried in history. One day, hopefully, we will learn that you can't make the world a better place by force or encouraging our enemies to fight one another.
Okay, so I go to look at the first document from the State Department. Here is what it reads: "In keeping with our policy of seeking to halt CW use wherever it occurs, we are considering the most effective means to halt Iraqi CW use including, as a first step, a direct approach to Iraq. This would be consistent with the way we handled the initial CW use information from Southeast Asia and Afghanistan, i.e., private demarches to the Lao, Vietnamese and Soviets. . . . If the NSC decides measures are to be undertaken to assist Iraq, our best present change of influencing the cessation of CW use may be in the contest of informing Iraq of these measures. It is important, however, that we approach Iraq very soon in order to maintain the credibility of US policy on CW, as well as to reduce or halt what now appears to be Iraq's almost daily use of CW." It sounds to me, from this document, that the US was aware of the use fo CW, concerned about the use of CW, and seeking the most effective way to influence Iraq to cease using them. I have not looked at all the documents but what I have read so far shows that your post, copied from that blog, is a twisted reading of at least one document to support the idea the US allowed Iraq to use CW when, in fact, the US was trying to most effectively get Iraq to cease using them. As we all know, general UN resolutions are non-binding and do not compel any action. What type of resolution were the Iranians seeking? Is there any reason to believe that a non-binding resolution would have more influence in stopping Iraq than the US threatening to cease supporting Iraq in the war?
this is old news...pretty much the whole world outside the USA knows the weapons were US supplied and that the conflict was supported "unofficialy" by the US government... its not like the US gov does anything out of the goodness of their heart lol http://academic.evergreen.edu/g/grossmaz/interventions.html all these places needed to be bullied , bombed and invaded and somehow the US army is always the good guys and the world is full of evil people that need US intervention and bombs and killing
Most people say that the Bush regime fought the war in Iraq in order to capture crude oil reserves. It was the World's First Energy War (with many more to come). According to Wikipedia, the Oil production in Iraq is going to increase 10-fold by 2010. Billions of dollars are being invested there by US Oil companies.
the history channel calls iraq the first of the "oil wars" ...outside of the USA you would be hard pressed to find anybody who believes the war was about anything else than oil...
