US veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are suing the government, claiming inadequate care is leading to an increase in suicides. A San Francisco court will hear the class action lawsuit against the Department of Veteran Affairs. The veterans say the department has been unable to deal with the growing incidence of depression and suicides. But government lawyers argue the department has been devoting more resources to mental health. In court papers the two non-profit groups representing the veterans write "that failure to provide care is manifesting itself in an epidemic of suicides". Of course it will never happen: there's one rule for US and another for the rest of the world but they wants to blow you up because of your freedom, right?
Its sad, america loves to fight wars and recruit all these new meat shields to hide behind. They would rather see the soldiers come back in body bags than to pay for them. Ive been to the VA hospitals and its horrible... You literally gotta wait 5-6 hours to see a doctor. If your leg is broken you could literally sit in there for hours.. Its really sad.
This is sad we have seen this happening before when the Vietnam veterans returned home. It's a disgrace.
This problem has been festering below the surface for awhile. Unfortunately, I don't think it is going to get any tangible action, until they play hardball and launch an aggressive media campaign promoting their cause. The government only has a small set of duties. Defense and care of veterans is one of those duties. While it's handing out foreign aid, and investing in new submarines, there are citizens, veterans who are not being properly cared for. It's like if your kid was sick, and you spent the Doctor money on a date. What the government does to the poor, the uninsured and veterans is basically the same.
