http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/5369198.stm This article says that a former deputy secretary of state of the United States threatened to bomb Pakistan if it did not help us in our war against terrorism. Essentially this guy who, marked by that "former" label, has not much authority or power in our government anymore, just ordered Pakistan to be our allies or we'll bomb them. I have mixed feelings about this. I don't think this guy has any place to give "threats" (and they're not promises since as far as I know he has little or no power anymore) to Pakistan, but he might have a point. Since Pakistan has harbored and let terrorists through its country in the past, and even currently on a large scale, if they don't assist in kicking them out and/or killing them, then they are considered an enemy to us, since we are trying to fight the forces that they are hiding. What do you think...
According to the Pakistani president "the threat" was made immediately after the Sept 11 attack. Armitage was in power and was the Deputy Secretary of State at that time.
That was one of the ways to bring paksitan into co-operation against terrorism. Of course if they would have rejected the war against terrorism they would have been bombed a couple of years ago.
