US Taxes On My Own Affiliate Program

I'm kicking the tires on e-junkie.com and payloadz.com this week for selling digital goods and they both have a built in affiliate program for you.

So if I sell an ebook, it has a built in system so others can sell my ebook for a commission. My own mini affiliate program if you will.

However, I'm confused by how to set this up to track for my finances.

I'm not asking for specific tax advice, simply a high level understanding of who pays taxes on what? Do I need to get the SSN or tax id of every one of my affiliates? What if my affiliates are from other countries besides the US?

Do I send my top affiliates a 1099 every year?

Does anybody have any experience or advice with running your own mini affiliate program?

What about any links to tutorials on the subject?

    Thanks Ya'll

Wow, not a single reply yet.

Not even the people that offered the programs had much to say:

    Payloadz response:

Sorry payloadz but a quick google search turns up nothing.

    E-junkie response:

Certainly this has been discussed somewhere on the net before?
