Well even though the people that got shot were bad people this guy that killed them just became worse. They were stealing stuff, so what it can be replaced and insurance will cover it. You are right a video camera would have been a much better weapon than a shotgun. Now if they where threatening another persons life in the process of committing the crime by law the vigilante can stop them with force, but the way it went down he is wrong to have killed them and it is a lose lose for all sides. You got 2 dead thieves and 1 other man about to spend the rest of his life in jail. He will regret his actions thats for sure.
He was told so many times, DON'T DO IT, no material thing is worth taking someone else's life. Tragic results. 2 dead and another loosing his freedom for the rest of his life. I can guarantee you that they will sentece him to life in prison.

While I do not agree with what he did, I was shocked that they didn't say something other than don't do it as you'll get shot yourself. Nothing about breaking a law from what I heard was ever mentioned. I could be wrong?

I think the 911 operator was trying to call his better judgement, this guy surely was hell bent on killing these people, he said that a couple of times "I'm gonna kill them". WTF was he thinking. He thought he was doing the right thing by KILLING 2 thieves?? WTF!
