US stocks have intraday limits?

I couldn't find this information anywhere.

Do US stocks have a limit for how much they can move in a day?

I often find stocks moving by 50% or more.

(In India, other than the most liquid stocks, majority of stocks have a 20% limit).

No, but in special circumstances, such as bad news, trading can be halted for a period of time to let the news sink in to prevent unwarranted, large drops in price.

you know of any instance in which trading was halted for a stock?

(It was done in case of Satyam ADR).

I see it all the time. Not for many stocks, just one here and there.

In ths US it happens every now and then. What is a lot more common is for there to be a delayed opening for a stock that broke bad news the day before after the market closed.

The US markets have some limit switchs on computer driven progammed trades if the market falls by a certain % during the course of a single day. The amount is different for each of the 3 market places.

I once had a few hundred shares of STSI and bad news came out and as a result the stock plummeted and they had to halt trading.
