US Marine: I Was Ordered to Execute Women and Children

Lance Corporal Humberto Mendoza testified this week that Marine Sargeant Frank Wuterich, who faces 17 counts of murder over the Haditha killings, ordered him to execute Iraqi women and children.

The marines had been responding to a roadside bomb on November 19, 2005 when a roadside bomb killed one in their midst. Mendoza says Wuterich ordered him and his fellow marines o begin clearing housses in search of insurgents, what followed was one of the most horrific episodes reported out of Iraq:

At one house Wuterich gave an order to shoot on sight as Marines waited for a response after knocking on the door, said Mendoza.

As far as strategies go:

Eight Marines were initially charged in connection with the Haditha deaths. Four were charged with murder, while four senior officers were accused of failing to properly investigate the killings.

Of the four Marines charged with murder, two have since had charges withdrawn, while allegations against Tatum are also expected to be dismissed.

I believe most of these guys have been cleared. This is the group that Murtha proclaimed guilty in the media, then most of them have been cleared.

I found the most shocking thing coming out of Iraq to be muslim al qaida men using children as suicide bombers. There was at least one, here on this very forum, who actually supported that. Go figure.

 

I believe the ones that were cleared are planning to sue Murtha for defaming them, before any trial was held.

I think 2 have been cleared, if memory serves. The UAV in the area at the time seems to corroborate some of their story as well, from what I've seen. I think one of the military guys said that "someone needs to be punished" for what happened, though, so I'd not expect all of them to get cleared.

There's very few things I'd take more pleasure in, than seeing murtha sued. Truth be told, he should be tried under Article 3, Section 3 of the Constitution. So many here claim to be *strict* followers of it. I can't think of a better example of putting that to a litmus test.

 

Waste of time. bush will just overrule any high court decision. No wait! Murtha is a democrat!

 

I'm honestly in the hopes that, contrary to what's expected, Stephen Tatum is not let off so easily.

 

Makes ya proud, don't it... Your (the flag waving nationalists) brave boys over there, protecting freedom, Murdering women, Raping children. All together now, "oh say can you see,, by the....", Wave them flags and don't forget to "woot" every time someone mentions "freedom".

 

We could be like you and support using children for suicide bombers and terrorists. That would be too easy though, wouldn't it?

Imagine that, false allegations against marines in an attempt to embolden the enemy and lessen the moral of those who are there trying to make life better for people.

Whats the point? The guy was tried and convicted. How many people did Sadaam kill?

I hear you. Not a day goes by in Iraq that innocent civilians are not killed by Al Qaida or shite militias like the Madhi Army.

 

Saddam was the bad guy wasn't he? I thought the marines were the good guys.
I find it appalling that instead of being disgusted at the rape an execution of a child you instead try to justify it by comparing it to the actions of someone else.
