I was just wondering if there's any difference between a .us, a .com and .net Will a site appear more if it's a .com or .net?
The extension will not affect search engine rankings but direct visitors may accidentally & automatically type in .com instead of your .us or .net - so you may lose traffic.
Hm well not really concered about confused visitors. But will a .us domain appear in Google.co.uk as frequently as a .com or .net?
Actually base on my experience, .com and .org is preferred and seems get higher score in SEO. At the end users side, .com, .net or .org domains are easy to remember than the others. So, i think we should choose .com, .org or .net domains. - - - - - - - - - - - - domain whois is easy www.aawhois.com
That was my question too. No they do not appear. Here is a search for Link.Us UK sites only: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=link.us+&btnG=Search&meta=cr=countryUK|countryGB All Web: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=link.us+&btnG=Search&meta=
US as good as other, never. However, I believe a domain extension does not really matter if you have a good project in mind, but the market tendency will always favor .COM .NET .ORG, CO.UK, and INFO before US domains. At least my perception based on search engines indexing patterns
i think my domain SalesBy.US is a good one because it is shorter than SalesByUs.com and i will probably beat them at their own game ( the search engine is what i am reffering to )
That's true, if you have a good domain name and a great project, your US domain can be as good as a dot COM
and for whatever reason, I don't believe you can have a private registration on a .US Does anyone know anything about this?
They are all fine but you are correct. the TLD ext's are better for world wide SE exposure. A lot of ccTLD's will only appear in there relative SE's. Not always but usually.
Another thing to factor in is user confidence. At least in the United States, people are just used to .com. Almost all authoritative sites are .com. When it comes to deciding which page to click on in the SERPs I think users give a slight edge to .com. All things being equal (aside from a 1 to 3 position rank difference), between the choice of two sites I'm more likely to click on the .com.
YOU ARE CORRECT YOU CAN NOT GET PRIVACY ON ANY COUNTRY EXTENTION. . . .jap .asia .us OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT . . . I TALKED TO GODADDY EARLIER . . . and we scimmed that topic
Hm I didn't knew that, thanks for the tip I tried again registering a .us but unfortunately, you need to be located in the US. Too bad...
i was skimming for available domains today and noticed .US did not have privacy on whois data. but country extensions are allowed to have private wohis data such as .bz, .hn, .ag, .tv, .cc, .ws... do a search on name.com and you'll find privacy available for many country extensions.
bz, .hn, .ag, .tv, .cc, .ws THESE ARE NOT COUNTRY EXTENSIONS .bz = BUSINESS .hn = (NO CLUE) .ag = (NO CLUE) .tv = TELEVISION .cc = (NO CLUE) .ws = WEBSITE so . . . with that being said unless those 3 that i dont know what they are about are COUNTRY EXTENSIONS, then your post doesnt hold water . . .
okay . . . .hn is Honduras .ag is Agriculture .cc is Cocos (Keeling) Islands so with THAT being said . . . i wouldnt trust a domain purchase with those 2 country extensions let alone privacy for the simple fact that i heard that .JAP you have to rebuy the domain BEFORE 1-2 weeks of EXPIRATION or else . . . YOU LOSE IT
most probably people will get interested to type-in the .com extension for your site and most probably will stay with the .com if content is the same
.bz Belize (Caribbean) .hn Honduras .ag Antigua and Barbuda. .tv Tuvalu (Island) .cc Cocos (Keeling) Islands .ws Western Samoa (Island)
