"The Joint Economic Committee (JEC) of the US Congress has announced it is investigating the amount of commerce taking place in virtual game worlds."

 Now they want to manipulate virtual economies too?

Maybe they are thinking of taxing game economies or attacking them to get their oil.

Its not a bad Idea, they get a better understand of peoples risk tolerance, and decision making ability and are able to apply it to the real economy.

That's clearly not why they are investigating them, if you read the article.

I Read some of the other articles linked to on the bbc from that one, was surprised they said the average gdp of each mmo gamer was around $2,000 a year, and thats back before WoW, and doesn't include lineage 2. Compared the mmo economy to places like Namibia, Bulgaria, and jamaica. Now add 20 million more mmo gamers to that from the last few years.
