U.S border agents are checking for people with signs of flu at offical border crossings and airports which is a joke when there are thousand of people crossing illegally on a daily basis.

The Mexican economy is already in a sharp recession and the outbreak of swine flu will cripple the tourist industry. Which could prompt a wave of Mexicans seeking employment and better health care. This would further the spread of the virus into the US.

The Mexican health officals are short on facts.

The European Union has issued a warning on all travel to the US and Mexico.

So what "facts" are you privy to that the Mexican health officials aren't? or did you just not read the article properly, made a rash assumption and are now trying to defend your incorrect claim?

If you want to be taken seriously just admit you misread the article, otherwise you will leave us with no option other than to assume you were trying to deliberately deceive people to push your agenda, and that would hardly give credibility to your argument would it.

The article is there for people to read. There is nothing in it claiming, as you have, that the man died from swine flu. In fact, there is a statement from a health official stating the exact opposite. Perhaps you should source your evidence a bit better. You know, find stuff that actually supports what you are claiming, not stuff that contradicts it.

I'm sure they have. why wouldn't they? There is a new strain a highly infectious flu about, the responsible thing to do is tell people about it.

Glenn Beck the coroner who carried out the postmortem? Or Glenn Beck the creepy asshole from TV with a right wing agenda who is prone to staging fake nervous breakdowns on TV reminiscent of the movie "network"?

Guess what, Glenn Beck is equally as incorrect as you are. I don't much mind the error, we all make them, what bothers me is the inability to acknowledge the error and the need to continue as if the source you posted for your claim in any ways supports it.

The man did not die from swine flu and nothing in the article you posted suggests otherwise.

And you have proof he didn't die of swine flu?

Australia owns the vaccine? Wow so they own a vaccine to a new flu that has just been created that no one can stop? Your right, you should stop responding because you already are too big of an idiot to be talking here.

Other than the fact that in the article posted as the source for the claim that he did die of swine flu a health official categorically stated that he didn't?

Theres no proof he didn't. Kind of hard to test for it once their dead unless it was ordered, which I doubt since its easier to say oh he had previous illnesses.

Which means he did, then? great logic batman!

I think you are just ignoring all evidence which contradicts your fabricated version of reality. Of course his postmortem would have tested him for swine flu, He had symptoms "similar" to swine flu before he died.

You are still believing he died from swine flu even though it was categorically stated by health officials that he didn't and even though you have absolutely no evidence to suggest otherwise?

Get some facts before adding your fabrications to this debate. Our 'socialized' system says 'Tamiflu', also used to treat bird flu, is an effective treatment for this swine flu.

Look into changing your 'private' health system as the information you're hearing on this flu is wrong.

I have a really sincere question here..

As an Aussie, why the hell do you care so much what type of health system America has? Aren't you content enough with the care you already have? Why does everyone have to be like you?

America is different from the world for a reason, while kool-aid is legal here, it is not mandatory to drink. (yet)

Swine Flu virus is technically known as H1N1, which first hit the masses in 1918.

The new, more dangerous strain of Swine Flu, which we are facing today, first surfaced in 1976.

The virus which we face today is similar to the one that struck in 1976. People are scared because this virus may mutate and become untreatable...

Sincere answer: because we were told yesterday there was a virus and a cure. Your system seems to only tell half the story, the scary part.

Are you saying it isn't a cure because there's not enough? Our reports (& pbs.org) report Tamiflu IS an effective 'treatment' for this flu.

The news here has now moved to panic mode (because most of it comes from USA) haha. I think it's funny how our reports are 'it's bad but all good' but now 'it's bad and all bad' - nothing like a good scare to create a distraction.

Well let's see how this plays out. We had a 'flu' scare not too long ago and that fizzled out pretty quickly. Crying wolf only works every now and again. Keep your ears open, it's usually a good way of hiding / avoiding another 'bigger' problem going down...

There are many reasons it isn't a cure. As of now, it is a popular treatment (not the only treatment) with varying effectiveness depending on the varying agendas of who you're reading from about it.

Factors go into treatments like this, such as resistance, mutation, scarcity, and the decreasing effectiveness it has the longer you wait after you first get symptoms.

    That's a distraction itself.
