If more and more people want to use them then its the fault of other search engines that they don''t have a brand strong enough to entice people to leave Google. Instead we are seeing more and more people leaving them to search on Google.
I think people search where have the most relevant results Google is the fastest groving SE engine NOW :d Google offers much much more tools/ services than others.. I think People Love google and Knows much better than others SE's AND IT IS VERY DENGEROUS FOR SE MARKET
I just got a vision.. Bill Gates and Google HQ teaming up... The Microogle.. Yeah, talk about monopoly over the world..
Capitalism Rocks, people make the choice to use google its not state controlled (at least not in this country) It would be good to have viable competition as it will only keep google on its toes to come up with even better stuff which will only benefit consumers.
I think Yahoo is enough competition for google.. Plus, I love Ask.com.. I so wish google had that design and name.
well all newbies to the net prefer google and its so attractive n simple that they dont try others. msn should make a seprate search page without so so many things on thier page it take so much time to load if msn makes a seprate page like google without the https thing and makes it ie homepage and convences firefox to use thier search than msn can do pretty well
Still not as good as Google. It can't find my blog by typing the name directly "The Powell Blog" first in Google, I couldn't find it on live.
I'm not offering any opinions here as I too am not totally decided on where I stand, but a monopoly is not just determined by market share. Monopolies are also said get less innovative as time goes on but at the same time prevent innovative customers from gaining market share. Until recently I don't think there were any major reasons to brand Google as being a monopoly because they are rather innovative, with Google Labs and what not. However, their war against Text Link Ads (the company) could well now see them branded as a monopoly as they are attempting to use their power to make text ads a thing of the past - reducing innovation. That's the way I see it anyway.
I think Google's search results are becoming less relevant (especially for "controversial" keywords) because they are too busy trying to "punish" webmasters instead of actually just doing their job which is showing the most relevant results. I also think that Google is abusing their power somewhat now. They are trying to dictate what people do on their websites (such as selling text links.) And I think the whole "nofollow" thing is pretty stupid. The way that sites like Wikipedia use it on EVERY outgoing link is really lame. Resources deserve an active link.
