Ok, For the first time I will declare it on the DP forum. US citizen here and not an Indian citizen(although my parents are Indian) I came to India when I was 12(in 1997) and now I am 21(would soon be 22).I haven't gone to the States since then but now I am planning to do so. I have a valid SSN number and US passport and a Birth certificate(no other documents such as tax documents,licence etc) I wanted to open a US bank account from India itself? Any methods of doing so?? Any US banks that could help me out(willing to provide the documents)? All banks(read citibank) require an address in US,but I don't reside in States and so don't have an address. Are there other banks which can help me out? This is important to me as I will be moving shortly. All help appreciated. Al
Do you have a US-based bank located in India ? If so, you can contact them and see how they can help you out.
We have citibank and American Express operating in India. I have contacted citibank (They refused saying to open a bank acc in US itself) I haven't contacted American Express as such as it is in an other city. Al
Goodluck arvind_srivastava . My advice is go to US or open an offshore bank account. Try searching Google and find the best offshore bank account.
