i am trying to hire an e-commerce developer, and they recommend to use www.domain.com/gold+and+silver+necklaces/10kt+gold+jade+embossed+necklace Is "+" sign considered same as "-" Should it be this way instead? What is the difference? www.domain.com/gold-and-silver-necklaces/10kt-gold-jade-embossed-necklace Thanks
I swear there was a similar thread like this a few days ago... I think they are both the same but I am 100% sure that search engines think that "-" is a seperator.
Never seen the + symbol been used in any domain URL, your best going with a - symbol but to be honest anything more than two hyphens is going to make your URL look spammy!
It depends on the use of the link. Do you plan on using this URL for backlinks or do you hope to have it indexed by search engines? If so, the answer is to use the hyphen regardless if using the + sign is the same or not. Why? DarrenC already pointed this out and if all things are equal why would you want to display a URL that is so difficult to read? If not visible externally, use what is "developer friendly". Good luck. Good luck.
Yeah. I just read it at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=140445 and already made the changes on my sites
