In my opinion, the most likely thing to happen, is them considering it to be a link farm, and penalizing you.

Nonsense!!! Having said that, look at all the pages of w3c and you'll know that is a foney baloney full of pepperoni. Link farms don't have any actual contents. they are purely unrelated links and nothing else on the page.

Most of their links are internal navigation links. I doubt Google would penalize for navigation links. That would only occur for external links.

I've seen a number of documents. CSS home page got more than 200 external links and it's still pr9 (one of the links is mine :) )

I don't think having 200 will get you penalized but I think what Google recommends is what their robots can easily crawl. I'm not sure why 100+ or even 200 would cause Gbot a problem though.

The spider will time out at some point over 100 links on the page.

i think SE bots are lazy, that's why it is recommended less page size, use css to eliminate not so important codes for bots. too many links on a page may not recommendable (specially those considered link farms), google bots are so busy so lesser links on page the better to ensure links are all crawled...

The best strategy to post or sell links on your site is - Internal pages.

Your site has a lot of pages, may be hundreds or more ..
Place these links on internal pages. It will harm your site less

yeah my bad, cause the script with i was checking my sites, checks all the "hrefs" i dont have over 100 external links on my front page, is pretty hard to do that unless u are link farm, but 260 "hrefs" yes i have, strange but it seems i have, probably that script blows...

I think that Google does count more than 100 links if it is links to inner pages of the same site.
If its 100 links to other sites, that is another question.
