URL's in sitemap 994, Indexed: 36? Why such a huge difference?

The site is PR2. The sitemap for the forum has 994 URL's in the sitemap and only 36 are indexed. Why is there such a huge discrepancy? I imagine the pages not included in the sitemap are missing out on some long tail keyword traffic

Only thread pages are included in the sitemap. So no profiles, tags, etc are in the sitemap.

    Feedback is appreciated! :D

Why do you shorten your url, that's bad. Also build more backslinks so when google is crawling other site when it hits the backlinsk it will crawl your site.

Create sitemaps in HTML XML and json and do good internal linking and build links to inner pages

    i got the same problem
i think that problem can be done with many good back links at different pages of site, it must helps google to correctly indexing of it
