URLs and indexing

Hey I have a wallpaper site, and I want to change my URLs

This is what I have now.

    Something like this

    anime.com/wallpaper/Kurosaki-Ichigo-Bankai/

I want to change it to this,

    anime.com/Bleach/Kurosaki-Ichigo-Bankai/

So if I do change my URLs, Google will most likely de-indexed some pages of my site(if I have any).

So will I be severely penalized? or in two weeks of having the new URLs I will just get indexed again?

you won't be penalized.....only that all your ranking will be lost and you'll have to wait to aquire new ones.

I think it will be much better if you wouldn't change your URL anymore; even though your NEW url would be more effective in SEO.

You won't get penalized but the thing is that it will have to start all over again for google to reindex and rank your page once again. Some people have complained before of the page dropped entirely from search engine after changing the titles. Therefore, if you have good SERP ranking, try to avoid doing that. But if the page is still new, then go for it.

I wouldn't change it. I would think the time you had acquired in those pages is worth more than a simple keyword change.

Plus, as long as you had Bleach in the content of the website, you'd start to rank better anyways. I've always had bad experiences with changing URLs. One time it took me 4-5 months just to regain my PR4 and get back on track in SERPs.

Thanks everyone, but the reason I want to change is because I am not getting a lot of traffic.

    For an example

anime.com/category/Bleach/ This is what I have indexed.

    But it should be this

    anime.com/category/Bleach/Kurosaki-Ichigo-Bankai/

I still wouldn't worry about it.

I would just be happy that Google indexed you at all. I'd start building up backlinks regardless for the URL that Google picked out itself.

It's hard to tell what Google is going to do, but when they do something positive, there's no use in detracting from it :)

It's better to leave your links as they are. Because if google won't find some links it'll take several days to make new links for Google. But, you can make a good sitemap with new links.
