URL structure question

Hi,

I have the following example page and wondered if it is better to have the shortest URL possible, e.g. http://www.website.com/services/myservice.php or is it better to have just http://www.website.com/myservice.php

Will having a sub directory relating to the page be beneficial, e.g /services/?

Do you Know the maximum length of URL is of the 75 to 115
Go with the 2nd URL for every service, like for smo - /smo instead of the services/smo.php
.... ""Create Service.php as One URL"" and rest service pages leaving /services

 

Earlier it used to be a good idea to pass on link juices from several directories to the main site as each directory was treated as an 'entity'. After Google realized that people used this in an automated manner to game the Search Engine, they removed any obvious advantage any subdirectory provided to the main site.

In your case, unless you are going to have multiple pages from /services directory, it is pointless to add a directory just to serve one page.
eg: your-site.com/services/myservice.php
your-site.com/services/my-premium-service.php
your-site.com/services/my-default-service.php

Unless otherwise noted, do not add additional directories.
