URL structure - Is a trailing slash better than no slash at the end?

    Hi

A lot of people with dynamic websites are rewriting their URLs so they'll be more readable and more search engine friendly. Well, I've noticed that some people have a trailing slash at the end of the URLs, like this:

    http://www.example.com/products/books/seo-mastery/

But other websites don't have the last slash, like this:

    http://www.example.com/products/books/seo-mastery

Do you have any opinion on this? Or even better, do you have any proof that one of those methods is better than the other - maybe one is following some standards, one is better for SEO (unlikely), one is more user friendly or some other reason why people might choose one method over the other?
