We would like to introduce and get feedback on the design and theme for our new URl shortener please.

Hello,

I have a slow web connection and it did not shorten the link that I tried out. Also, the domain is not very short, for example, I own http://w.bb and could also use it to shorten links if I wanted.

Last but not least, what guarantees do you give to people that your link will last two years from today? That is the problem with shortners nowadays and the reason why people only resort to big places like google and bit.ly

Some good points. I plan on a diff domain soon.

As for the them being valid in two years. That's a great point and I will make a blog about it. I intend on it being around for quote some time.

I like the look but I think you should move the box up on the page a bit. My eye is not drawn to the URL box. It's on the bottom half of the page and the eye is not naturally drawn there. It may seem trivial but every little bit helps! I think you also need to tell people what to do.

Never assume people will figure out what to do.

 

Nice Site. But i am having a doubt. Can you compete with other sites who are providing this service? goo.gl, bit.ly are two big sites i think

 

Fair points, I will look into this.

 

I am not aiming to compete but rather be a useful tool and we aim to implement features which hopefully will make us unique in the future.

Could someone please tell me what they think of the load speed?

 

Looks good, but the domain name makes the whole site kinda worthless.
I mean, the URL is so long that it doesn't really work that well as a shortener.
The only purpose I see for using this site now is to cloak links.

 

the urls shorten to this though .... http://surls.co not http://urlshortenr.com so we had already thought of that
