I want to use short urls to twitter my blog posts. I can use something like tinyurl or bit.ly, which creates short urls. Then when someone clicks on that link they are taken to this third party's site and then redirected to the page I want them to see, right? There's something called yourls.org. Apparently you install it on your server so that you host the shortening service. I would have to get a short domain name to host it on, right? Then visitors would be sent to this short domain and then forwarded to the page I want them to see, right? Is there any seo benefit of doing this over just using one of the free services out there?
