I can't decide if any particular URL shorteners has an advantage over another. Trying out 3 different ones at presnt Owly, Bitly or Google Is there any SEO benefit to links like these? And if so is it better to use the Google one or a strong other one which is not directly Google. I am thinking of using these on articles placed on Web 3 sites so the link is not direct etc
remember one thing if you are using url shortner then it is good but there are no advantages purpose in SEO.
The main purpose of URL shortener is just shorten your long url, it is useful when we want to share url on Social media sites rather than posting long url its better to post shorten url but it wont give you any advantages in SEO.
According to several ranking specialists, it seems that using URL shorteners doesn’t lead to any negative impact on your SEO. As a matter of fact, shortened URLs are considered by search engines as any regular 301 redirects and they will thus act upon it. As Matt Cutt from Google explained in the video below:
Peter speaks it true! And if anyone tells you any nonsense about negative SEO impacts, ask them ,"Then why is Twitter partnered up with Bitly? In fact, when customization of the URL is an option that can be a game changer for you! Say on Instagram for example you make it super easy to remember , you might actually be able to drop a link beyond the one you get in your profile!(I just change mine tho f***it lol!) Twitter it has very noticeably effects upon people and their choice to engage your content.. If you customize it well you'll notice substantially more engagement. Few months back after seeing Lil Xan's custom url shortener and all his premo paid services it offered musicians, I was on the prowl to make my very own shortener. But that's when you realize any domain with 3 characters costs thousands minimum lol! Sux
Google is more widely recognized and has a better likelihood of being around months or years from now.
URL shortener only shorts the URL length and works a re-director URL to our web page. It do not have any advantage for SEO so there isn't anything like this one good than other but you should prefer google URL shortener just because it is hosted by google.
3 Reasons Why URL Shorteners Are Useful 1, They make links more manageable 2, They can track and compile click data 3, They can be transformed into social media services.
URL shorteners have no negative impact on your website. It is used to make a URL in tiny form so that you can easily post it.
This is truer today than a few years ago I think. Time was short URLs were avoided because they were perceived as attempts to hide affiliate links.
Additional to being smaller and most such as bitly being capable of customizing, some go even farther like bit.do, and provide ip address information and user agents for off site analytic tracking data
It can literally shorten a URL so you can post something conveniently without reaching the character limit. I guess, that's an advantage.
