Blimey.... Well I never - I bet you get a lot more traffic too if you had the Title and Description in the Results... I hate google.
Is that Mod fully compatable with EasyMod? I mean have you tried it with no issues? That thread is 128 pages long so I am hoping for the quick answer Then I am going to go back and read the entire explanation.
I don't know what EasyMod is, but the links to the able2know mod in the first post or two of the referenced thread point to the latest version of the mod.
No it's not. Do it manually ~ takes about 10-15 minutes for the basics if you're experienced with PHP or modding phpBB.
I do for some searches, though most of the pages that show up in the site: query won't show that. I was getting an odd snippet in certain search results that I couldn't find anywhere on my site or in directory submissions, etc. Finally, the mystery was solved when I was editing some of the phpBB files and found the description in one of the pages -- I'd forgotten I added it (or perhaps I added it on a DrunkRank=7 day...). When I get time, I'll look at varying that meta description better across different threads... I love Google. Google loves me. We're a happy family...
OK, I usually do any Mods that aren't off the phpBB site by hand but I figured if it was stable I would give it a try 10-15 minutes I can take...Some of those Mods are hugh if you do them by hand
I assume you're referring to Hugh Grant? Really, isn't it time you let that unfortunate incident die?
Since using the A2K mod the traffic from search to the forum has shot up honestly it really has. Also spidering has increased significantly (obviously) but now new posts are picked up within hours and are ranking top notch as well (if they are on topic that is).
I found the same. Basically all you need from the MOD is Part 1 and Part 2. It makes a huge difference, not only in getting the site spidered but in getting it found by actual searchers once the pages are indexed.
I would be very careful about having hyphenated urls, as they are surely going to be the next item to attract a filter IMO.
What are you basing that on?!?!? So they are going to penalise sites with URL's that are readable by humans... Oh come on.....
Sorry I just read my post and it is not clear. I am not saying penalise, I am saying filter out of importance. Google is now using human intervention on sites, and have admitted as much. No point in doing something that is not going to help was my thoughts. Look at it from another angle. Why should a site with the domain name of best-damn-widgets-ever.com/blue-widgets/blue-widget-information.php get benefit from it? Many eople who use the hyphenated domain thing also use some other SEO tactics, some of which might go against the Google guidelines. What am I basing it on? Nothing really, as I said it was IMO. That said, hyphenated stuff do much better in Yahoo and MSN, this is probably because they put more weight on internal linking anchor text though.
