    Hi!

What mod rewrite do you believe is the most efficient?

http://www.domain.com/category (act as a file or directory on some servers)
    or
    http://www.domain.com/category/ (act as a directory)

I would like to have the directory on local host 'IF' the site has low traffic, otherwise I might be forced to use multiple hosts and may go for something like a reverse proxy (but none of my sites are running in this config right now).

Both options are good - it does not matter if you use one or the other. Only, be consistent with whatever format you use. If you use /category then use /category throughout (no ending slash) in your webpages as well as in link building.
