Well it does help your rankings greatly, my advise is you try your best to include the keyword in the domain name. Best Regards 501
It's always good to use keyword in URL. Let me give you an example, If your website related to franchise business ok, you should select domain name like, best-franchises-uk.com than for the internal page you can go ahead with the same. if you have an internal page which sells franchise you should select an URL like: best-franchises-uk.com/franchises-for-sale.html If your business targeting to a specific country than select best-franchises.co.uk/franchises-for-sale.html which makes good sense, believe me. and don't select URL like, bestfranchisesuk/franchisesforsale.html which will not make any keyword sense for search engines. Regards, James.
Keywords in the URL, especially in the domain/subdomain name carry alot of weight today. Examples are blogger, squidoo, hubpages, etc. which can easily get you a top 10 ranking for not too competitive long tail terms by just choosing the right subdomain/directory name and adding a few links to get the page crawled.
There are many factors when we do optimization for a site or when we create a url structure of pages for site. Creating urls based on keywords is a part of SEO and it helps to achieve ranking. It is good technique of url structure. This is best point in view of navigation method also.
