Hello I would like to know what are the benefits and de-merits of keeping url in title tag as now e days many companies are doing that. please let me know asap. thanks
Would you be interested in knowing the demerits or merits? if you think its not good for your website then just leave it on the other hand if you think its something worth, then you can surely go ahead with it Between, its better to use your keywords in the title and if your url contains your keywords then you can use your url aka keywords in the title
Advantages: Branding - Your domain is your brand. By having your domain in all your page titles, you make people connect the website with your brand. Disadvantages: Can affect your rank especially if you put the domain url in front of all the other text because it is hard to know what a page is about if there is a big chunk of the same text before the title of the content.
Hi There is little to gain from adding the complete URL in the title tag, however, if your URL contains the brand or keywords you're targeting, then there is nothing wrong with adding them into the title tag, in fact, it will be useful for both SEO and for use experience. However, depending on what keywords you're targeting depends on where in the title you put it. If you have a brand name in the URL, and it's not a term you are trying to rank for, then I recommend the following format: Keyword+detail | Brand name Example: Used Cars Portsmouth | Snazzy Cars Ltd You must limit your title character length to 65 characters (this will vary to who you ask, but I find this number works well - including spaces), limiting the numbers means your whole title will get shown in the search results, so it won't get cut off by the "..." at the end. The reason for having the brand at the back is Google puts more weight on the first few words, so you want your target keywords there, plus, unless people are specifically looking for your brand, you want the keywords at the front so they are easily spotted by users 'scanning' the search results pages. Hope that helps!
The best way to decide is find out your competition techniques and where you stand in SERPs and the best person to judge will be only YOU. That is because it doesnot generate any special help for your rankings. I would prefer to put different keywords as you will have an extra advantage of your images showing up in the images section in google as per the keywords
don't ever put a full URL ( such as http://www.yourdomain.com) in the title tag. it absolutely does not belong there. The URL is an element and to place it inside another element is absolutely wrong. I doubt it would lead to any kind of penalty but it's just not right and as was mentioned it's taking up more space than you need. also, as was mentioned the domain name can be placed in the title tag just fine such as: yourdomain.com if it is your branding elements. I have noticed that search engine companies that are successfully dominating very general terms such as "Seo tools" are adding their brand name( which may or may not be their domain name) in their titles. I believe that makes sense when it's a very general term such as "Seo tools". it so general that Google is probably looking for some type of distinction to set sites apart from the other general tools that are out there. But one client I dealt with was basically over branding and using up space in their title. They already had a well-established brand of 30 years... So there was no need for further branding in their titles. That freed up some space for some other terms however, you should never really be running out of space in your titles. You should keep your titles tightly focused on the page subject/theme. I see a lot of people running around titles stuffed to the max with words that are not even keywords. I rarely run out of space in a title. Make sure you consider that.
You can use website name in your title & there is no problem if you do it, but dont use www & http in your title, also dont use special characters loke $%#@^.
I think it is not a good idea, if you put like "DigitalPoint.com" on you title tag, it is fine but the whole URL is not advisable. Title tag should name your site/page accordingly and should explain well what it is all about..
URL in title will not work to rank high on Google with remaining keywords which are available in title. If you want to focus on branding so, you can go forward. But, I never observed benefits to put URL in title
According to me its not good idea of having url in title tag its better if you can target keywords over there. If you want to increase brand value then its better option
By giving the website url/business name in title you can't get rankings on targeted keywords. So, it is better to target keywords in title tag
