    Hi all,
I have launched a conceptual website Boxyad.com last week. SEOing this website is a pain in the ass due to its nature - it does not have any body text, which is unfavourable for search engines like google. Cash has been a problem for me and that is the mean reason why I have been submitting urls to free directories, writing articles etc etc. The question is, from your perpective, are there anything I can possibly do to ease the current situation (e.g. other ways of promoting this website) Tell me what you think, I am willing to offer free ad spaces to those who reply this thread with good and achievable suggestions.
    Many Thanks.
    Chris

Cool concept to your site. I would say that even a small paragraph of text would help with seo.

Maybe just a couple of sentences across the bottom explaining your site and the concept would help, you don't always have to have a ton of text to rank. Of course you will want to include your primary keyword phrase in those couple of sentences.

Whatever keywords you are after, you should use those as anchor text for the backlinks that you are getting from submitting articles and to the free directories.

    Good luck with the site.

the site is loading for me.
rdv817, thanks a lot, I had the description in my meta tags.. I might as well put a small paragraph at the bottom of the page as well.

one more question, where you think might be the best place to offer freebies? I'm planning to offer 100 free ads to boost my traffic but I have completely no idea which forum/where would be the best place to hand out these opportunities.

First you should submit yoursite to major search engines, second look for links from other sites.

I think reducing the no. of boxes and probably giving a summary and few links for advertisers to sign up at the top can help you.

I doubt the efficiency of submitting to free directories
so far I have submit to more than 200+ free directories but only a few of them showed up when i google "boxyad" on google.

we're back to the starting point - where can i possibly find these advertisers? I applied to adsense and they rejected my application simply because my site is still under construction?! and I can't see why my site is still being considered as under constructions.. ( i've checked all pages, no dead links)

    Cute concept!
there are many things that you should do, SEO-wise and UI-wise:

Here are some quick basics, my browser is FireFox, check it with IE as well:
    • Try to replace your image-text on the left side to actual text heading.
    • Enlarge your tabs and the text written in them.
    • Make your tabs color differ from the other tabs when you are in a page.
    • Add a footer - home page, about us , etc. + description of your service with KWds
    • Your TOP link in the Faqs is broken, add it to the footer for all the pages (case of different resolution).
    • Your background is nice, make it more transparent.
    • As you dont have many ads yet, (hope that you will) make the whole page including the footer to fit (at least) for 1024x768

Ther many more things, inc seo-wise; read here its, a great forum.

    Gluck!

I like the concept. Very different!

I'm not sure what would draw visitors to your site though. And if visitors are being drawn there, then I'm not sure that it would draw many advertisers.

    My suggestions:

    • Post regularly on advertising/marketing forums
    • Add this to Wikipedia
    • Perhaps do a press release or something of that sort
    • Blog about it
    • Give away listings or something to create some buzz (which makes me think about my own site, hmmm)

Nice concept but needs some improvement... :)

    I would suggest that:

    - you should first offer this site for free because its just starting.. it is to gain advertisers and traffics from visitors..
    - every line has its own category,, by that,, visitors will know which is which...
    - you should create a sitemap and then submit it to search engines...

    - press release, blogging and article writings about this new innovation of advertising online can give you much traffic!

    - adjust the box a little bit more so that the advertised site can be more readable and advertisers can put some info about their site...

I have seen your meta descriptions and it is repeated.. It can be a big problem someday if you'll not remove the other one...

Hope this post can help you..... :)

    Regards!
