URGENT Redirect Question

    I have a site that needed to be redone and it is taking a little more time than expected to get it done. This site gets good traffic all around, but there is nothing for people to purchase on the site because of the change. I have another website that sells the same products and a lot more but on a different domain. Can I or Should I redirect the under construction site to the one that is running temporarily until I get it finished, then take off the redirect? Do you think this will screw up my search engine traffic? I need to know quickly. Thanks!

    I don't know if it will mess up your search engine traffic, but to redirect with html, just use this code:
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="5; URL=http://www.newpage.com">
    HTML:
    5 Represents how many seconds it will wait until a redirection to the new page is made.

    I would rather put it in the .htaccess file instead of the code, its easier to mess with there
