Hi, I know this might be a long shot but i'm in desperate need of a web developer who would be willing to split all proceeds 40/60. 40% me 60% developer I have alot of projects that need to be developed but wasted so much money hiring developers for inadequate work. I have customer lists into the millions who all buy what i have to offer, so it will be a good money earner for the right person. PM me if your interested, also contracts will be exchanged.
Commission is one thing, 40% is actually what you call a "long shot". Even, 20% is excess because the only thing you are doing is bringing work to the developer.
I know all to well that finding a really good coder can be challenging. If you want, I can recommend a coder that does great work, @$100 per hour which is cheap considering his skill level. If you are out of cash, you might need to adjust your business policy. Its common to charge 50% to the client as a deposit up front before work starts, and or, charge the deposit at different milestones, such as approval of the wireframes, or the approval of the PSD's. If you have not gotten 50% of the project paid by the time the PSD's are approved, then you are doing something wrong.
I am still confused at what you are offering here. You are having an engineer do all of the work, and you are keeping 40% just because you found the work? Or, you are looking to have a developer build products for you, and you are selling and giving 60% commission on each sale?
It sounds like the 60% commission on the sale, but as a developer this doesn't sound like a great deal, especially as a complex development can take weeks and with no guarantee of getting paid. If I spend a week working on something, I would be expecting around $1500-$2000 for my time, but are you going to be able to sell that work for $2k-$3k+?.
Either way, this sounds like a dead end for any developer. You should be offering some initial incentive if you want anyone to take you seriously.
PM sent. Without knowing details it's hard to judge the proposed offer or size of the cut. ...the responses are so harsh, but he's also the only one talking business in this thread.
