    Good Day.

I am Mr Eric Freeman, a director with Department Of Minerals and Energy Affairs South Africa. I am currently in need of a silent foreign partner whose identity we can use to transfer the sum of $14,500,000,00 (Fourteen Million Five Hundred Thousand U.S. dollars). This money is presently in a domiciliary account and is from an (OVER INVOICED) of Multi Billion Dollars Contract awarded to foreign firms here in South Africa in preparation of the 2010 Fifa Football World Cup to be hosted by South Africa. If interested, send me an email so I can give you the full details and I have the deposit document in my possession.

    I await your urgent reply.

    Best Regards
    Mr Eric Freeman

It is quite likely that the person does not exist.

Loads of such e-mails floating around the internet- it is not worth your time or money to report him.

I am totally amazed how people continue to actually pay attention to emails like this. Is it spam they ask? WHAT ELSE CAN IT BE? Do you know the person? Has the Department of Minerals or whatever in South Africa or anywhre else ever contacted you before? Do you think they would need you - or anyone else for that matter - to transfer money? This is why spammers still exist and will continue to do so...because people actually still insist on opening, reading and even taking action on unknown, unsolicited and untrusted emails. People...please ignore this type of rubbish and perhaps then the practise of spamming will not be as lucrative for the idiots who do this for a living.

This is often referred to as a 419 scam. Check out 419eater.com - these guys demonstrate a lot of the scams (and trap the scammers).
