Hi, I am setting up a blog network. I need help determining the pay for the marketers that I will be hiring. Its a bit unique. I will be picking the domains, providing the content, set-up the blog...etc...the only job that the marketer will have is to build backlinks for me via blog commenting and monitoing the sites ranking in Google. The marketer will be using my well-researched list of do-follow blogs.

I cannot pay this person a set salary or a set amount of cash. It HAS TO BE a percentage of the net google adsense revenue generated.

My question is...in my example above, what would be a reasonable percentage to give? I'm thinking of a declining scale....50-50 if under $1K per year....60me-40him if above $1K but less than10K...etc...

I don't know, i am having trouble determining a payout in this situation because I am doing everything...completely my idea and knowledge...they are just building backlinks and acting as an account manager.

Any insight in to the suggested percentage I give would be appreciated!!!

    Thanks, Mike

    Mike,

If your going to slide the scale you need to go the other way.
By lowering the percentage as you get higher income it takes away the incentive to "hit the next level"

    I would go performance based.
Maybe start at 30% for x amount and have realistic targets to achieve 40% 50% etc.

If a marketer then is just a few dollars away from the next commission level you will find they do that bit extra.

I understand you are doing the work, But without a sales team your not growing.
And most sales people (Me) Have Not one bit of technical Knowhow. We rely on guys like you comming up with products for us to Sell.

    Hope that made sense

It can be on two things. An hourly basis with required number of quality link or pay per link build. You can start bidding with your marketers and increase as you profit.

You won't find any takers if its purely % basis. It should be on a $ per link basis. Once target volumes for links are reached, and adsense $$$ is ramping up, it should slowly migrate to % basis.

This way neither side will feel like they are getting chumped.

You could do it on a CPM basis like $1 CPM then $1.20 CPM, etc.
