Hi There, I am about to buy a domain but I don't want people to be able to see the whois information (my address or name etc). Is there a way to stop this? Does anyone know of a registrar I could by it through who will stop my details from displaying. Thanks in advance.
Thats a US site though and I preferably want to use a UK one. Also, how do I go about concealing the whois information?
No difference mate with using a UK host such as Weycrest.co.uk or Dynahost.com - they're both as good as each other reputation wise. For simplicity sake though, you'd be quids in using Dynadot.com even though it costs a little more, it's just easier there to simply tick the box to hide your details, which is what you want. If the few quid does make a difference like that, pardon me for saying so, but then the name may not be worth registering, if it is for resale purposes that you are buying it in the first place. If you need any help, feel free to drop me a line. Best regards. Mark Magawr
Okay then, just put the Name, address, and number of the registrar. There is nothing they can do there!
As Kentucky said, most registrars do offer a privacy option for a few extra dollars. For example Namecheap offers free whois for a year with every purchase. As long as it a standard domain, they'll offer it ( unless you are planning to buy a .us)
Hey all, just done it with Godaddy.com and used a code from the forum with a little extra discount. Price wasn't an issue, just my anonymity lol. Thanks all for your help, I think I have just bagged the domain of the century!
http://resellerclub.com the registrar through whom i register all my domains gives FREE whois privacy protection with all their domains. Ani
Namecheap all the way great register, free whois, easy interface, great prices and they accept PayPal too
I can't help but post this song up from Youtube on hearing those famous words, the most annoying, the most aggravating song ever, but in this instance, apt for the expression, please do not take this the wrong way, I'm just as keen to see the name, in the meantime though, just in case, in advance The Laughing Policeman: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iZPkrkT6BVQ
