Does building a index.html with MS FrontPage then uploading it to the root file on the host drive hurt my SEO rakings or have any negative effects? I had been using free hosting and free included design programs until recently. I decided to sign up for a paid go daddy hosting account, but I didn't want to pay for the website builder so I have just been uploading my index.html and content to the root file.
A website needs an index.html, .htm, . php so that it shows a page of your site when people go to your domain, not just the list of files on your server. GoDaddy is OK, but there are better and less expensive hosts.
