Well, you can still install windows 7 even if your Windows XP is original or not since Windows 7 is a whole new OS not an update of windows XP.
You can't really "upgrade" because 7 is 2 OS's above XP. You would just need to wipe your HDD clean and start a fresh install
You didn't do a clean install, you forgot to format your HDD. If you don't format it, it saves your old windows installation as a windows.old folder so that you can still access your old documents. The format option is there when the installer asks you which partition to install Windows 7 on. However, this option is there only when you boot from the installation DVD and not when you install while Windows is already running.
I'm not sure why you'd want to upgrade from XP in the first place. I still think that OS is/was the best one that Microsoft ever released. I've got a Vista system and a Windows 7 system. The bad part about it is that I wish I had XP. There's a good chance I might just bite, and buy it too.
hi guys i want to ask is 7 is better than XP?? please post the reason i want to upgrade my OS but affraid 7 like Vista because my PC can't running Vista
Really? W7 runs better than XP? W7 has a higher system requirements as compared to XP. I was thinking about switching from Vista to W7 too, but after seeing a demo I said, maybe next time. It seems to be full of graphic and animation, way more than what Vista already has; and I'm not much of a fan of these blings and other stuff that only slow the computer.
i got the same finding.... especially because my pc is 3 years old.. if you want to install windows 7 just make sure your pc is new enough..at least 1 years old... otherwise..you would find difficult to find the drivers for connected peripherals.. such as drivers for TV tuners..... web cam... modem..printers... etc....
window 7 rox , simple to use interface. very light compare to vista. vista is worst of all productions.
teckinik is right... XP was the last viable OS from Microsoft IMH. Switch to Linux and save your money and get practically the same performance without the hacker hassles. If you unconcerned about computer security, stay with Windows. They are still finding exploits available from ancient versions of IE.
Go in for a fresh install. I rules out bug related problem from you pirated xp And hope u got some decent specs to support the os,its kinda demanding to run smoothly, say abt 1.5 GB of ram and a dual core
